Osmo Volumizer is by far our favorite choice on the market nowadays.
First thing that most people find impressive is their Ionic+ technology that hydrates and protects your skin from dryness or burning out.
It has a 360° vented airflow meaning that all parts of your hair are evenly covered and it saves you time as you won’t have to go through the same area multiple times.
It’s suitable for all hair types and lengths.
Another great thing is that if you have sensitive scalp, you’ll love Volumizer as it uses soft nylon bristles that feel like a gentle massage on your head.
You can control the heat and speed settings which gives you a salon-alike treatment from the comfort of your home. It really gives you various styling options and you can style different hair parts differently.
It has a long swivel cord.

Dyson, which is known for its high-tech household appliances, made a big splash in the beauty world when it launched its techy blow-dryer in 2016. Since then, the brand has made beauty waves with its hair straightener and this multi-use styler that can dry, curl, wave, or smooth your hair. This hot air brush is also a favorite of Ghamari, who says it’s the best in terms of quality and versatility. All of our testers at The Lab agreed.
The Airwrap scored high marks across the board: an average of 4.8/5 for ease of use and glide performance, while styling and drying performance clocked in at an average of 4.6/5. It also got extra points in our book because it comes with six attachments that can convert it into a blow dryer, curling wand, or smoothing brush—a special feature that we think makes its $550 price tag worth it, if you can swing it in your budget.

OVERALL ANALYSIS
We consider this brush the OG in this category. With an oval shape and rounded edges, it’s designed to give your hair sky-high volume, boosting strands at the root and leaving the lengths with plenty of body and bend. Our testers agreed that it was a little bulky and had a shorter handle, but overall, they thought it was easy to use—they gave it an average rating of 4/5 in that category.
In terms of glide performance, while it worked well for our fine-haired tester, our thicker-haired tester felt it put up a bit of a fight. All of our testers were happy with how quickly it dried their hair (it scored an average of 4.2/5 in that category), but they also believed that it dried so fast due to how hot it got—which may not support hair health over time. Overall, though, our testers were super impressed with this pick, especially given its low price point.
It’s also worth noting that Revlon came out with a newer version of this hot air brush: the One-Step Volumizer Plus. We also put this product to the test in The Lab, and while that one scored well across the board, too, our testers agreed that they liked the original better. However, the updated version has a detachable head, which makes it particularly great for traveling.

OVERALL ANALYSIS
Leave it to T3 to go the extra mile—the brand’s hot air brush has five heat settings and three speed settings, while most of the brushes we tested had three heat settings and two speed settings. This tool comes with a round head for a more voluminous look and a paddle brush head for a sleek, straight look. It also features a negative ion generator that produces 10 million negative ions per second—a feature that is designed to leave hair shiny and smooth.
Our tester with coarse hair loved this tool so much that it’s now her go-to at home. “This one is easier than the others,” she said. “I didn’t have the skills to recreate the round brush curl look at home until I started using this tool.” For this reason, she gave this one a 5/5 for ease of use; its average score in this category was 4.7/5.
However, another tester noticed that this tool took a little longer to dry her long hair than the other brushes. After testing the temperature, though, it made more sense—we found that the brush only reached 190°F, which was the second-lowest max temperature of any of the tools we tested.
Pros
360° airflow

Swivel cord

30-day money back guarantee
Cons

The Hot Tools Black Gold One-Step Detachable Blowout features ion technology that promises to help prevent damage (while warding off any frizz or static), as well as charcoal-infused bristles, which are designed to ensure a smooth finish and to keep your hair fresh—even for second day hair. When our testers tried this product, they found that all of those claims were true.
All of our testers were shocked by how shiny and smooth their hair felt after using this hot air brush—especially given its affordable price tag. Across the board, our testers gave this brush a 5/5 for its glide and drying performance while its styling performance averaged a 4.3/5 rating. Although each tester loved how shiny it made their hair feel, the heat sometimes felt too intense. (When we tested the max temperature of this brush, we found that it reached 260°F.)

Things To Consider WHEN CHOOSING THE BEST Hot Air Brushes
Ionic+ technology
Innovative ionic+ technology hydrates and keeps your hair smooth and silky and in my opinion, it’s a lot better than any other technology on the market. Always seek for ionic+ when looking for hot air brushes.
360° vented airflow
This ensures all parts of your hair will be covered evenly and that you won’t have to treat the same area multiple times. In short, it saves you time and energy and it makes the brush far more efficient.
Adjustable settings
You don’t want to always use the same heat and speed settings, so it’s important that you can adjust it based on your needs. With adjustable settings, you can customize your styling experience and have various different styling options.
Soft bristles
If you have a sensitive scalp or hair, a traditional “harsh” brush will do more harm than good for you. Soft nylon bristles are like a massage to your scalp and you’ll find it very comfortable using them.
Warranty
If the brand doesn't offer a money-back guarantee or warranty on their brush, you should stay away from it. Always look for something you can try out and receive a full refund if you don't find it useful.
What To Avoid When Choosing Hot Air Brushes
Short cord
Short cord can sometimes be a huge problem if you have long hair, so always seek a long cord. Additionally, look for swivel cords as you won’t have to deal with it being tangled up all the time.
Not suitable for sensitive scalp
Some brushes are too harsh and they can damage your scalp and hair, so always look for softer bristles. In my opinion, the best bristles are made from soft nylon.
Cheap knockoffs
There are a ton of cheap products (even on Amazon) that are just pure garbage. They aren’t even tested and they’ll just waste your time and money. In my opinion, anything below £70 can’t be good.
